Data Science is the study of where information comes from, what it represents and how it can be turned into a valuable resource in the creation of business and IT strategies. Mining large amounts of

structured and unstructured data to identify

patterns can help an organization rein in costs, increase efficiencies, recognize new market opportunities and increase the organization's competitive advantage.

Some companies are hiring data scientists to help them turn raw data into information. To be effective, such individuals must possess emotional intelligence in addition to education and experience in data analytics. A data scientist possesses a combination of analytic, machine learning, data mining and statistical skills as well as experience with algorithms and coding. Perhaps the most important skills a data scientist possesses, however, is the ability to explain the significance of data in a way that can be easily understood by others.

2. Raw data typically refers to tables of data where each row contains an observation and each column represents a variable that describes some property of each observation.

Field analytics is the field that analyzes data sets and draws conclusions using the information that they provide. It's a growing strategy that's used in a variety of industries, from finance to healthcare.

Experiments are designed to identify causal relationships between variables and this is a really important concept in many fields and particularly relevant for data scientists today. These are the types of questions that product teams will be interested in and experiments can help provide an answer.

1.What is data?
- Data is information that has been translated into a form that is efficient for movement or processing. Relative to today's computers and transmission media, data is information converted into binary digital form. It is acceptable for data to be used as a singular subject or a plural subject.

2.Define raw data, field data, and experiment data.
- a) Raw data ("unprocessed data") is a collection of numbers or characters before it has been "cleaned" and corrected by researchers. Raw data needs to be corrected to remove outliers or obvious instrument or data entry errors.
- b) Field data is raw data that is collected in an uncontrolled "in situ" environment.
- c) Experimental data is data that is generated within the context of a scientific investigation by observation and recording.

3.Discuss technique of primary data collection?
Primary Data Of all the kinds of information, what we can get from first-hand experience is primary data. Primary data is always collected from our research instead of books or any other written material, which come from second-hand sources. To get primary information, we can pick three data collection methods.
Questionnaire
Observation
Experiment

4.Describe sources of secondary data.
Common sources of secondary data for social science include censuses, information collected by government departments, organizational records and data that was originally collected for other research purposes.

1.Meaning of data
Data are characteristics or information, usually numerical, that are collected through observation. In a more technical sense, data is a set of values of qualitative or quantitative variables about one or more persons or objects.

2. Raw data,field data,and experiment data.

Raw data:Raw data (sometimes called source data or atomic data) is data that has not been processed for use. Raw data is unprocessed computer data. This information may be stored in a file, or may just be a collection of numbers and characters stored on somewhere in the computer's hard disk.

Field data:Data collection is simply the gathering of information to be used as a basis for reasoning, discussion, or calculation. And field data just means it was collected outside of a traditional workplace setting like a laboratory or office.
Experiment data:Experimental data in science and engineering is data produced by a measurement, test method, experimental design or quasi-experimental design. Experimental data may be qualitative or quantitative, each being appropriate for different investigations.

3.techniques of primary data collection.
A primary data source is an original data source, that is, one in which the data are collected firsthand by the researcher for a specific research purpose or project. Primary data can be collected in a number of ways. However, the most common techniques are self-administered surveys, interviews, field observation, and experiments. Primary data collection is quite expensive and time consuming compared to secondary data collection. Notwithstanding, primary data collection may be the only suitable method for some types of research.
Techniques:
1)Questionnaire method
2) Observation
3) Interviews
4)Surveys
5)Polls

4.sources of secondary data.

•By government and their various agencies, bureaus, departments (Census of population, agriculture or industries.

•Administrative Records
•Technical reports: account of work done on research projects
•Diaries
•Planning documents
•Maps
•Aerial photographs
•Sound recordings (Radio and TV Programmes)

Meaning of data sheet
A datasheet, data sheet, or spec sheet is a document summarizing the performance and other technical characteristics of a product, machine, component, material, a subsystem or software in sufficient detail to be used by a design engineer to integrate the component into a system. Typically, a datasheet is created by the component/subsystem/software manufacturer and begins with an introductory page describing the rest of the document, followed by listings of specific characteristics, with further information on the connectivity of the devices.

DATA in any field is very crucial for decesion making and forecasting therefore data palys important role in field of marketing.data can be characteristics of information which can be either in quantitative or qualitative.
Data available will be raw data in group data) which will be observed first time
There are various tools to collect data on field of market research like discriminant analysis , conjoint analysis ,cross tabulation Anova and manova etc and for decesion making we can use hypothesis testing methods. Primary source of data can be obtain by observations and secondary data from past experience , research papers ,charts , diagrams etc .

In a more technical sense, data is a set of values of qualitative or quantitative variables about one or more persons or objects, while a datum (singular of data) is a single value of a single variable.
2.Define raw data, field data, and experiment data.
Although the terms "data" and "information" are often used interchangeably, these terms have distinct meanings. ... Field data is raw data that is collected in an uncontrolled "in situ" environment. Experimental data is data that is generated within the context of a scientific investigation by observation and recording.
3.Discuss technique of primary data collection.
1.Observation Method:
In observation method, the information is sought by way of investigator’s own direct observation without asking from the respondent. The main advantage of this method is that it is free from subjective biasness, as it is free from respondent’s willingness. It is, however, an expensive and time consuming method. Moreover, the information provided by this method is very limited and some of the more busy people like executives may not be accessible to direct observation.
2.Interview Method
In this Interview Method, the respondent may give wrong and imaginary information. For effective interview there should be a good rapport with respondents which is often very difficult to develop. For a good result the interviewer’s approach should be friendly, courteous, conversational and unbiased for which a proper training is required.
4.Describe sources of secondary data.Common sources of secondary data for social science include censuses, information collected by government departments, organizational records and data that was originally collected for other research purposes. Primary data, by contrast, are collected by the investigator conducting the research.

1)Data is defined as facts or figures, or information that's stored in or used by a computer. An example of data is information collected for a research paper.

2)Raw data, Field data and Experiment data:

Raw data is data that has not been processed for use. ... For example, a point-of-sale terminal (POS terminal) in a busy supermarket collects huge volumes of raw data each day, but that data doesn't yield much information until it is processed.

Field data is raw data that is collected in an uncontrolled.
In computer science, data that has several parts, known as a record, can be divided into fields. ... Examples of fields: name, gender, hair colour. In object-oriented programming, field (also called data member or member variable) is the data encapsulated within a class or object.

Experimental data in science and engineering is data produced by a measurement, test method, experimental design or quasi-experimental design. Experimental data may be qualitative or quantitative, each being appropriate for different investigations.

3)PRIMARY DATA
Data that has been collected from first-hand-experience is known as primary data. Primary data has
not been published yet and is more reliable, authentic and objective.
Following are some of the sources of primary data.
Experiments: Experiments require an artificial or natural setting in which to perform logical study
to collect data. Experiments are more suitable for medicine, psychological studies, nutrition and for other scientific studies. In experiments the experimenter has to keep control over the influence of any extraneous variable on the results.
Survey: Survey is most commonly used method in social sciences, management, marketing and
psychology to some extent. Surveys can be conducted in different methods.
Questionnaire: It is the most commonly used method in survey. Questionnaires are a list of
questions either open-ended or close-ended for which the respondents give answers. Questionnaire -
can be conducted via telephone, mail, live in a public area, or in an institute, through electronic mail or through fax and other methods.
Interview: Interview is a face-to-face conversation with the respondent. In interview the main
problem arises when the respondent deliberately hides information otherwise it is an in depth
source of information. The interviewer can not only record the statements the interviewee speaks but he can observe the body language, expressions and other reactions to the questions too. This enables the interviewer to draw conclusions easily.
Observations: Observation can be done while letting the observing person know that s/he is being observed or without letting him know. Observations can also be made in natural settings as well as in artificially created environment.

4)Sources of Secondary Data: The following are some ways of collecting secondary data –
 Books
 Records
 Biographies
 Newspapers
 Published censuses or other statistical data
 Data archives
 Internet articles
 Research articles by other researchers (journals)
 Databases, etc.

4. Describe source of secondary data.
- When the data are collected by someone else for a purpose other than the researcher’s current project and has already undergone the statistical analysis is called as Secondary Data.Secondary data refers to data which is gathered by a secondary party, other than the user himself. Common sources of secondary data for social science include statements, data collected by government agencies, organizational documents and data that was basically collected for other research objectives. However, Primary data, by difference, is gathered by the investigator conducting the research.

2) * Raw Data:- Raw data (sometimes called source data or atomic data) is data that has not been processed for use. A distinction is sometimes made between data and information to the effect that information is the end product of data processing. Raw data that has undergone processing is sometimes referred to as cooked data.
*Field Data:- a. In a database table, a field is a data structure for a single piece of data. ... The records make up the table rows and the fields make up the columns.
b. In a form that you fill out on a Web site, each box that asks you for information is a text entry field.
* Experiment Data:- An experiment database (in short, an ExpDB) is a database that contains results
of many random experiments. The experiments in themselves are unfocused; the focused, goal-oriented experiments mentioned above will be replaced by specific queries to the database.
In the following, we first describe how the database can be created, and next,
how it can be mined to obtain useful knowledge. For simplicity, we start withthe case where we are interested in the behaviour of a single algorithm. The extension towards a comparison of multiple algorithms is non-trivial but will briefly be discussed afterwards.

Raw data: Raw data is unprocessed computer data. This information may be stored in a file, or may just be a collection of numbers and characters stored on somewhere in the computer's hard disk. For example, information entered into a database is often called raw data. The data can either be entered by a user or generated by the computer itself.
Field data: In a database table, a field is a data structure for a single piece of data. Fields are organized into records, which contain all the information within the table relevant to a specific entity. For example, in a table called customer contact information, telephone number would likely be a field in a row that would also contain other fields such as street address and city
Experimental data: Experimental data in science and engineering is data produced by a measurement, test method, experimental design or quasi-experimental design. In clinical research any data produced are the result of a clinical trial. Experimental data may be qualitative or quantitative, each being appropriate for different investigations.
3.Techniques of primary data collection

Interview Method: It is the most widely used primary data collection methods wherein the interviewer asks questions either personally, or through mail or telephone from the respondents to obtain the insights of the problem under study. The researcher may either visit the respondent in person at his home or meet him at the central location as mutually decided by them.
And in case, a large group of respondents is to be contacted then the mail and telephone survey can be used. In the mail survey, the questionnaires are sent to the respondent who is expected to give answers to the questions via mail. In the case of a telephone survey, the interviewees are called and asked questions (closed-ended) specific to the research problem.

Delphi Technique: It is a forecasting technique wherein the researcher elicits the information from the panel of experts either personally or through a questionnaire sent through the mail. Here, each expert in his respective field is asked to give their opinions on the problem concerned and the consolidated view of all is used to reach for the most accurate answer.
Projective Techniques: The projective techniques are the unstructured and an indirect interview method used where the respondents are reluctant to give answers if the objective is disclosed. In order to deal with such situation, the respondents are provided with the incomplete stimulus and are required to complete it through which their underlying motivations, attitudes, opinions, feelings, etc. related to the concerned issue gets revealed.
4.Describe sources of secondary data:
Secondary data is usually used when the time for the enquiry is compact and the exactness of the enquiry can be settled to an extent. However, secondary data can be gathered from different sources which can be categorised into 2 categories. Namely:

Published sources
Unpublished sources
1. Published Sources:

Secondary data is usually gathered from the published (printed) sources. A few major sources of published information are mentioned below:

Published articles of local bodies and Central and State Governments.
Statistical synopses, census records and other reports issued by different departments of the Government.
Official statements and publications of the foreign Governments.

2. Unpublished Sources:

Statistical data can be obtained from several unpublished references. Some of the major unpublished sources from which secondary data can be gathered are:

The research works conducted by teachers, professors and professionals.
The records that are maintained by private and business enterprises.

Q.1 Data is the quantities, characters, or symbols on which operations are performed by a computer, which may be stored and transmitted in the form of electrical signals and recorded on magnetic, optical, or mechanical recording media.

Q.2 Raw data:
Raw data is unprocessed computer data. This information may be stored in a file, or may just be a collection of numbers and characters stored on somewhere in the computer's hard disk.
Feild data:
Feild data is any data  collected from sources on the feild and is collected by various organizations and institutions, including businesses, educational institutes, governments and non-governmental organizations. Now, feild data can be of two types depending upon the source.
Experimental data: The data which can be measured or collected through some standaed objectives, based on your experimental needs. This method of generating data where it should be either qualitative or quantitative based on your experimental needs.

Q.3 Observation is the most commonly used method of data collection in the humanities and social sciences. In natural sciences sometimes the researcher combine observation with experiments or other methods to get in depth data. Observation can be done in natural setting or in artificial setting.
Interviews are another important method of primary data collection. In the interview the interviewer collects information from each respondent independently. Due to this reason it becomes costly as well as time consuming. Interview as a research tool can only be used if the researcher has plenty of time and resources, otherwise it will be wastage of time and money to start interviewing.
The questionnaire is one of the most commonly used methods of data collection in research. Questionnaires are formulated to get to-the-point information on any subject area. The questionnaire is an inexpensive method of data collection as compared to other methods of primary research. Questionnaires can be submitted to a vast audience at a time and the responses can be obtained easily. The only drawback of questionnaire is the low feedback as several people do not return questionnaires on time.
Experiments are the most reliable source of data collection in natural sciences. Experiments can be conducted in any area of scientific study, whether it is chemistry, biology, physiology, physics, astronomy or mathematics. Experiments consist of logical series of actions that result in the answer to your query. Experiments can be conducted in a controlled environment as well as in natural situations. In experiments the experimenter controls the external factors while looking for the effect of internal factors.

Q.4 Secondary data  is datcollected by someone other than the user. Common sources of secondary data  include censuses, surveys, organizational records and data collected through qualitative methodologies or qualitative research.

1. Data analytics is the science of analysing raw data in order to make conclusions about that information. This information can then be used to optimize processes to increase the overall efficiency of a business or system.

3. Primary data can be collected in a number of ways. However, the most common techniques are self-administered surveys, interviews, field observation, and experiments. Primary data collection is quite expensive and time consuming compared to secondary data collection.

4. Secondary data refers to data that is collected by someone other than the user. Common sources of secondary data for social science include censuses, information collected by government departments, organizational records and data that was originally collected for other research purposes.

Data is the collection or characteristics of information either in numerical form on a qualitative or quantitative variable collected about a person's or objects. It is a single piece of information of any objectives.
The examples are as follows:
Sales data in the field of Marketing, Stock price data in the field of Financial Management , number of products produced in a day is the illustration of the production data , etc.

2) a)Raw data: It refers to any data object that hasn't undergone through processing, either manually or through automated computer software. Raw data may be gathered from various process. It is also known as source data or primary data or atomic data.
b) Field data: It is place where you can store data commonly used to refer to a column in a database a field in a data entry form or web form.
c) Experiment data: Experimental data is which can be measured or collected through some standard objectives based on experimental needs. It is used for scientific investigations.

3) Primary data collection is the collecting the data for the first time. The techniques of primary data collection can be through an observation, or an survey, interviews, self administered surveys etc.

4) Data collection may be also through secondary sources. The data can be collected through the journal's, magazines, websites, internal records of the company, information collected by government department, etc.

1.What is data?
- Data is information that has been translated into a form that is efficient for movement or processing. Information, especially in a scientific or computational context, or with the implication that it is organized.

2.a) Raw data ("unprocessed data") is a collection of numbers or characters before it has been "cleaned" and corrected by researchers. Raw data needs to be corrected to remove outliers or obvious instrument or data entry errors.
b) Field data is raw data that is collected in an uncontrolled "in situ" environment.
c) Experimental data is data that is generated within the context of a scientific investigation by observation and recording.

3.Primary Data Of all the kinds of information, what we can get from first-hand experience is primary data. Primary data is always collected from our research instead of books or any other written material, which come from second-hand sources. To get primary information, we can pick three data collection methods.
Questionnaire
Observation
Experiment

4.Common sources of secondary data for social science include censuses, information collected by government departments, organizational records and data that was originally collected for other research purposes.

1) Data are characteristics or information, usually numerical, that are collected through observation. In a more technical sense, data is a set of values of qualitative or quantitative variables about one or more persons or objects, while a datum (singular of data) is a single value of a single variable.

2)Although the terms "data" and "information" are often used interchangeably, these terms have distinct meanings. Field data is raw data that is collected in an uncontrolled "in situ" environment. Experimental data is data that is generated within the context of a scientific investigation by observation and recording.

3)
Interview Method: It is the most widely used primary data collection methods wherein the interviewer asks questions either personally, or through mail or telephone from the respondents to obtain the insights of the problem under study.

In order to deal with such situation, the respondents are provided with the incomplete stimulus and are required to complete it through which their underlying motivations, attitudes, opinions, feelings, etc
Focus Group Interview: It is one of the widely used data collection methods wherein a small group of people, usually 6-12 members come together to discuss the common areas of the problem. Here each individual is required to provide his insights on the issue concerned and reach to a unanimous decision. In this interview, there is a moderator who regulates the discussion among the group members.

Questionnaire Method: Questionnaire is the most evident method of data collection, which is comprised of a set of questions related to the research problem. This method is very convenient in case the data are to be collected from the diverse population. It mainly includes the printed set of questions, either open-ended or closed-ended, which the respondents are required to answer on the basis of their knowledge and experience with the issue concerned.

4) Common sources of secondary data for social science include censuses, information collected by government departments, organizational records and data that was originally collected for other research purposes. Primary data, by contrast, are collected by the investigator conducting the research
