YouTube’s algorithm serves to render the most personalized content to its users. YouTube analyzes viewer behavior on videos watched, click through rates, average time spent, engagement – likes, dislikes, comments – and explicit feedback submissions among hundreds of data points.

There are five different sections where a video can appear on YouTube: Search, Home, Suggested Videos, Trending, and Subscriptions.

YouTube algorithm key matrics:
Videos minute watched, channel minutes watched ,view duration, session duration, session starts , upload frequency , session end penalty, viewing history.

YouTube’s algorithm supports engagements, means users must enjoy the videos they watch to stay longer. So, good quality contents is very much needed that will keep your audience interested.
To find out which videos are keeping users engaged, YouTube tracks users’ activities on the platform from the videos user watch, to the time user spend on a particular video, if user like it, dislike or subscribe to it. Through this method, which videos are worth keeping at the top search can be understand.

YouTube has five different sections, where the algorithm picks the most relevant videos and rank it high for users to see.

Search:
To rank high in YouTube’s video search, you need to ensure your title, description, and video content matches what the user is searching because these are some of the things the algorithm considers. Videos must also be accessible in a way because user will also check to see how many people watch videos and compare it to other videos with related topics.

Trending:
The trending section is for new and popular videos. In this section, YouTube considers how many views a popular video has and also how quickly the views grow. Users usually do this to compare between new videos and popular ones.

Subscription:
This subscription is also a determinant to how high a channel’s videos will rank. What YouTube does is to measure the number of active subscribers (not viewers) who watched a new video from their subscribed channel immediately it gets published through a metric known as view velocity. If the metric keeps rising, the videos will rank high.

Home and recommended videos:
Algorithm tracks a user’s history to know what videos are relevant. They then bring up different videos on the user’s homepage according to how engaging the videos were other users that have a similar preference. They will also rank it according to the number of times the user has seen the video or how many of the channel’s subscribers have watched the video.

In order to rank a user's subscribed channel results, YouTube uses view velocity, which is a number that quantifies the number of subscribers that watch your video right after it's published. Your videos will rank higher depending on how high your view velocity is.

YouTube track record by seach history, new trending video , subscription, home and recommend video for their users.
By using a proper keywords for the video content it will help the sender to get more view by seach and appears in the top.
For getting more views and like content is an very important factoor to voncider and also the trend which are going on if the awnder of video modify according to that they will get more views and likes.

YouTube algorithm helps an individual channel to analyse and track their growth and grow. The fact that the organic customer will find their channel is far from reality in today's time. For example YouTube algorithm offering "channel keywords" is one the key holders for the channel creators to use this and make sure their content and page ticks all the marks for the algorithm requirements.

The main thing you have to know is that YouTube's algorithm supports engagement, which implies the clients must appreciate the recordings they watch to remain longer. Along these lines, in the event that you plan to be in their acceptable books, you'll have to deliver quality substance that will keep your crowd intrigued.

To discover which recordings are keeping their clients drew in, YouTube tracks their clients' exercises on the stage from the recordings they watch, to the time they spend on a specific video, on the off chance that they like it, aversion or buy in to it. Through this technique, they can tell which recordings merit keeping at the top hunt.

YouTube has five distinct areas, where the calculation picks the most pertinent recordings and rank it high for clients to see. These areas are search, trending, subscription, home, and prescribed recordings. We should consider every one of the part to perceive how the YouTube algorithm functions.

YouTube’s algorithm serves the most relevant, personalized videos to their users on four different sections of their platform: search, home & suggested videos, trending, and subscriptions. By helping users find the videos they’re most likely to watch and enjoy, YouTube can keep viewers on the platform for as long as possible and get them to visit their site regularly.

1. Search - The two biggest factors that affect video search rankings are its keywords and relevance. When ranking videos in search, YouTube will consider how well titles, descriptions, and content match each users.

2. Home & Suggested videos - No two users will have the same experience on YouTube - they want to serve the most relevant, personalized recommendations to each of their viewers. To do this, they first analyze users’ activity history and find hundreds of videos that could be relevant to them.

3. Trending - The trending page is a feed of new and popular videos in a user’s specific country. YouTube wants to balance popularity with novelty when they rank videos

4. Subscription - YouTube has a subscriptions page where users can view all the recently uploaded videos from the channels they subscribe to.

youTube algorithm helps viewers find the videos they want to watch, and to maximize long-term viewer engagement and satisfaction.
to get higher rating on youtube algorithm one can use:
-impressive thumbnail,
-clickbait
-meta tags
-keywords
-upload in hd
- include links in description.
Higher ratings will help to get more views and it will spread more awareness about your content.
YouTube’s algorithm uses machine learning to suggest videos, which means there are no set rules. people use clickbait to attract more viewers.
Another thing youtube does to maximize watch time: they put the title clip of the video somewhere in the middle of the video, forcing people to watch it for a while before coming to the clip they clicked on, essentially getting them “hooked” on the video. Because of this, their watch time is higher.

More than 70 percent of time spent on YouTube is spent watching what the algorithm recommends and the algorithm is very effective at knowing what people want: the average mobile viewing session lasts 60 minutes.

Since we have hundreds of videos being uploaded on YouTube everyday no man could keep a track of it and so YouTube relays on a software that keeps the track of every viewers choice of video
The algorithm is basically a real time feedback loop that tailors videos in order to show the right video to the right viewer at the right time. This is done with the help of data, they see the titles description, thumb nails and how viewers seem to enjoy the videos. The algorithm also keeps a track of viewers likes, dislikes, comments and past history
Basically the algorithm follows the viewers

Youtube's algorithm aims to provide searchers with relevant, personalized videos. There are five separate sections of YouTube where this algorithm works: Home, Search, Recommended Videos, Trending, and Subscriptions.

1. Home and recommended results algorithm

The first part of the algorithm for home and recommended videos focuses solely on the users’ history. All of these questions help YouTube select videos that are custom chosen for the satisfaction of the user:

What have they watched before?
Do they mostly listen to music?
Do they watch vlogs?
What channels do they frequent?

The second part of the algorithm focuses on the interaction between top videos and similar users (to the one you’re targeting). For example, YouTube might have a group of users that consistently listen to the same band on YouTube. From there, they’ll choose the videos that are most-watched by this similar audience and rank them highly for users.

2. Trending results algorithm

The algorithm for trending results pulls videos that are new and popular in a specific country. Trending videos are never sponsored, meaning users can’t pay to have their video shown in the trending results.

Some videos on the trending list are expected. These are videos like a new song, but others can be based on things like the rate of growth in views and where views are coming from.

3. Search results algorithm

Search results appear when you search for a specific term. For example, if you search “how to bake chocolate chip cookies,” the results you see are a result of the search.

4. Subscriptions results algorithm

When someone subscribes to your channel, they can visit their subscriptions page and see all the newly uploaded videos from all the channels they follow.

In order to rank a user’s subscribed channel results, YouTube uses view velocity, which is a number that quantifies the number of subscribers that watch your video right after it’s published. Your videos will rank higher depending on how high your view velocity is.

You want to get people to click your on video, this is the most important part as no click = no view. Great thumbnails paired with an intriguing and catchy title will achieve this (do not lie to get views but make it click-worthy).

Once they have clicked, you want them to stay for as long as possible, structure your video so that the first 3–10 seconds grabs their attention, lets them know what they will gain from watching (why they should care) and why your video is so exciting or important. Then have engaging segments that keep viewers interested throughout. The more they watch, the better your video will perform. (As for video length, it has been found that the average best length is 7–15 minutes but do not force your video to be longer than it needs to be as people will leave)

Once the video comes to an end you want to get people to either

Click another one of your videos
Click someone elses video
Under no circumstance (if your sole goal is growth on yt) should you try and get them to click off youtube. You want them to stay on the platform and keep watching other videos for as long as possible whether they are your own or even other peoples.
