E tailer refers to retailer business that sells goods online over internet from a website.

When a disaster strikes, everyone suffers: buyers and suppliers alike. Therefore, it only makes sense that firms should incorporate disruption-related metrics in their evaluations of suppliers.

Coronavirus is shaking up business and consumer behavior on a massive scale. Both the public and private sectors are scrambling to slow the spread of the illness and contain COVID-19 infections. While the full economic consequences of this black swan event are still unclear, we know that the effects that the virus—and the drastic measures being taken to contain it—are already precipitating change across industries.

The clearest and most immediate business impact of the coronavirus pandemic has been a major disruption to supply chains.

The spread of the coronavirus has caused several of the most important tech conferences to be canceled, likely resulting in numerous missed partnership opportunities

Online alternatives have helped limit the fallout from canceled conferences, but tech industries will likely still suffer a period of stifled innovation due to forgone in-person business opportunities.

The growing need for remote interactions amid the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted a need for 5G technology, potentially accelerating adoption in the long term.

India’s largest e-trailers like amazon and flip kart are scrambling to minimise the effect on covid19 on their supply chains like smartphones and home appliances. The virus has started affecting availability of consumer goods in these platforms.
The etailers depend heavily on China for manufacturing and now the launch of latest smartphones are delayed.
While e-tailers are yet to pass on the higher cost of products to consumers, goods reaching India will take longer, triggering limited availability. This makes the etailers more days to transport goods depending on the factory location.

There is a difference between needs and wants of the customers and not all E trailers are into the distribution of both
The major ptonlrn E trailers are facing is, the focus of customers in current situation is not on wants but on needs and not all the E trailers are dealing in the sales of essentials
The next problem is the obligation to the employees, as we know the E tailing companies are one such industry that employees a large number of people. Thus giving them salary at the pint of no business is a issue
Another important problem is delivery, as we know these companies use 3rd party for delivering the parcel, the shut down of such services due to lock down has become another issue. In the time of social distancing a very less individuals will think of buying clothes and other accessories as the focus is on procuring essentials
The companies will also face packaging issues as this would be the priority for customers shopping online in this situation

Because of covid 19 ecommerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon are expected to resume delivery of groceries and essentials late on Wednesday or early Thursday to people dependent almost solely on home deliveries amid the shutdown.and they also said that they would supply essential goods with minimum human contact.

The spread of the coronavirus has caused several of the most important tech conferences to be canceled, likely resulting in numerous missed opportunities. The coronavirus could deal a blow to companies already on the brink of going out of business. While it may seem far off, the disruption is already starting to impact the shipment of goods to retailers for the back-to-school season, analysts say. And if the situation persists, it could end up hitting the holidays, when many retailers make the bulk of their profits. The retail industry's leading trade group says there are still supply chain complications to work through, and things will likely be worse before they are better.

Britannia urges govt to issue necessary permits to people in food processing supply chain.

FMCG major Britannia Industries urged the government to ensure inter-state movement of the raw material for the food processing industry during the three-week lockdown, imposed to prevent pandemic of Covid-19. The government should issue necessary permits immediately to all people who are part of the food industry supply chain, said Britannia in a statement. The supply chain includes suppliers of raw materials and packaging materials, food manufacturing factories, factory workers, transporters of materials and finished goods, depots, wholesalers, distributors and their sales persons.

Technologies that facilitate operational efficiency — such as by gathering relevant data to inform decision-making and mitigate risk — are now critical, according to a recent study by Coresight Research. Assuming those roles are artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and blockchain — tools retailers are using increasingly to promote sustainability goals that increase financial value while protecting the environment, which in retail means focus on supply chains and customer relations.

* The local retail shops are having a higher hand over the online market

* E tailer depends mostly on Ali baba or china for goods and bcz of corona government wil not give permission to import unless it is most important

*the time duration required for delivery is increasing bcz of corona

*Different commodities have got different values only the most important things like medicine and medical equipment sanitizer food are given importance, other sectors are affected

Electronic retailing (E-tailing) is the sale of goods and services through the Internet. E-tailing can include business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) sales of products and services.

Here, E-tailers like BigBasket and Grofers, ecommerce firms Amazon and Flipkart, as well as B2B platforms Jumbotail and Udaan cautioned consumers and kirana stores to expect delayed deliveries as they deal with operational upheaval caused by the restriction on manufacturing and movement of goods, and people.
Shortages of essentials were most severe on March 25 and 26, according to information got then with perceptible improvement in availability at both kiranas, offline stores and online retailers during March 27 and 28.
Because of the fear of Deadly virus 'CORONA' - The bottleneck will move from trucks to fulfilment centres. It’s not ideal, but the government has been supportive, and companies being slowly limping back.It won't be easily normal and but things are certainly moving now a days.

COVID 19 is affecting e-tailers in many ways.

While eCommerce is the best alternative to shopping for various reasons like-quarantines, scarcity, fear of infection, people are refusing to buy online.
the challenge lies in vendors’ ability to keep goods flowing in from their supply chains to their warehouses and from their warehouses to consumers’ mailboxes and porches.
The people who have ordered the goods online are facing problem in getting them, lockdown is reason for business being closed. E-tailers are facing problem in managing the supply chain. In supplying the goods and also their sales have come down due to lockdown.

TO OVERCOME THE ISSUE MENTIONED:
they can try to make the goods more reachable to the outlets which are open for a very short specified time.
In that short time the goods can be made available.
few people have permission to carry out their jobs as they are necessities which are short and has to be made available. Only the necessities which are sold by the E-tailers can be supplied to the near by outlets.

Due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread, many cities are facing partial or complete Lock Down. The shutdown, has turn out be a disaster to most Indian online retailers who are already in losses. From 24th march country’s largest online retailers, Amazon and Flipkart, restricted customers from placing orders. Niche e-retailers such as the eyewear seller Lenskart, fashion portal Myntra, beauty products seller Nykaa, etc products that they sell excluded from the government’s permitted list of essential items, these websites are now trying to come up with ways to keep their business running. These e-tailers are yet to pass on the higher cost of products to consumers, goods reaching India will take longer, triggering limited availability. This makes the etailers more days to transport goods depending on the factory location.

Etailer is where the goods are been sold online.
Now due to the covid 19 the entire country is under lockdown which is been badly affected by retail as well as e commerce sector.

As the retail shops are been completely closed, it would be an good opportunity for ecommerce but due to transportation has been stoped completely it is impossible to take up an opportunity.

So Ecommerce has been affected including grocery, EPharma, home and furniture,Fashion, beauty and personal care, smartphones, Electronic etc. So this Covid 19 has made a huge loss to the bussiness like E-commerce.
The major transportation systems like trains Buses, trucks etc limited there function which impacted the supply chain to reach the products to the customer.

COVID-19 is regularly engaging with E-retailers , traders to ensure smooth supply of essential goods.
On Friday it is announced that regularly engaging with the Taylors and e-commerce companies to ensure that the supply chain of essential goods is not disrupted and various facilities continue to function smoothly.
There are various companies who are engaging e-retaile business to help the people , who are their in houses for 21 days , as it is announced lockdown.
Where in e-commerce or retailing is the best alternative to conduct a business for the people who are locked down for the period of 21 days and cannot go outside the house.
As more cities are going under lockdown, non-essential businesses are being ordered to close, and customers are generally avoiding public places. Limiting shopping for all but necessary essentials is becoming a new normal.
As news of COVID-19 spread and it is officially declared a pandemic by the world health organisation, they brought out medical supplies like hand sanitiser and mask and a household essentials like toilet paper, bread, milk et cetera and online stores were struggling to keep up with demand, and price gouging for supplies become rampant.

etailer is where goods and services are sold online platform.example : amazon and flipkart
Due to COVID 19 the entire marketing business is disturbed whether online retailinh or whether it be offline.
So there would be chanllenges that this retailers face
* since the lockdown the online retail has put on hold the cost of inventory holding would increase as none might have forecasted such a situation.
* the buisness profits or revenues would be affected as they are unable to fulfill the customer orders.
* the china products which were sold online would be most affected due to virus outbreak.
* even the retailers and wholeseller on whom this online retailers depend would be hugely affected .
* to overcome from this issue amazon or flipkart to come back to stable position can supply only nevessarydaily commodities that customers require especially in places like mumbai which is on high alert requires this facilites. Like for example dominos has taken a decion to supply essential comodities though they dont deal into this stream.
Thus ceration online fashion retailers or any ther e tailers can take up this step

The businesses will be affected ,
There will be lesser export of goods from countries like China.
Few retailer shops should take the distribution responsibility to the needy ,and who are been lock down. With the help of the govt.

Electronic retailing (E-tailing) is the sale of goods and services through the Internet. E-tailing can include business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) sales of products and services. E-tailing requires companies to tailor their business models to capture Internet sales, which can include building out distribution channels such as warehouses, Internet webpages, and product shipping centers.

Notably, strong distribution channels are critical to electronic retailing as these are the avenues that move the product to the customer.

E-commerce platforms have seen a spike in orders on their platforms in India over the past few weeks as people logged online to stock up on food and household products as well as office items like routers and cables (to work from home) on concerns around spread of COVID-19 infection and restrictions in public movement that have now been enforced.
Amazon is prioritising delivery of essential goods like household staples, health and hygiene products, sanitisers, baby formula, and medical supplies. It has disabled purchase of other products temporarily on its platform.
